A Letter from Judge Daryl Colson

I began the Overton County Recovery Court in 2015. During my years of practice, I have noticed that addiction affects all components of the criminal justice system. Addiction impacts crime and the Juvenile court docket and it tears families apart. I realized there had to be a better way. The Overton County Recovery Court provides a more cost-effective way to address the issues of addiction. The Overton County Recovery Court is an intensive court-supervised treatment program that holds individuals accountable for their actions while ensuring that they receive the treatment they need to address their addiction. We are proud that we have a successful program here in Overton County.

The Overton County Recovery Court is run by a team of professionals who place recovery at the foremost of their everyday decisions. With that said, I am proud of the work that we are doing at the Overton County Recovery Court in that we are addressing the issue of addiction and stopping the revolving door of crime by addressing the underlying cause of the criminal behavior. It is with great pride that I preside over this court.

Sincerely,

Daryl Colson
